BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
1 COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
2 RESOLUTION REGARDING NAMING OF OROVILLE DAM
3 WHEREAS, Oroville Dam, key unit of the statewide Feather
4 River Project is located 5.5 miles above t:he City of Oroville; and
5 WHEREAS, the name of "OROVILLE" in connection with the
g promotion and ultimate construdtion of Oroville Dam has received
7 publicity, state and nationwide and internationally; and
g WHEREAS, only the name of OROVILLE DAM would pinpoint the
g exact~l.ocation of the huge Feather River Project complex, which is
10 expected to become a major recreational area when the Oroville
11 reservoir is filled,
12 NOT~J, THEREFORE, BE TT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
;13 OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE QF CALIFORNIA, that the Butte County
14 Board of Supervisors goes on record as supporting the retention of
15 the name of OROVILLE DAM and OROVILLE LAKE.
lg BE IT FURTHER RE50LVED that the Butte County Board of
lq Supervisors urges the Department of Water Resources to formally
lg designate OROVILLE DAM and OROVILLE LAKE as such.
19 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be
80 directed to the Honorable Edmund G. Brown* Governor, State of
21 California; Honorable Stan Fittman~ State Senator, 6th Senatorial
;22 District (Butte County); Honorable Hugo Fisher, Director, Resources
23 Agency; and to the Honorable William E. Warne, Director, Department
24 of Water Resources,
25 PASSED AND ADOPTED by the BOARD OF SUPERVISORS of the County
26 of Butte, State of California, this 2nd day of March, 1965, by
2q the following vote:
