BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
CQUNTY OF BUTTE, STgTE OF CALIFORNIA
A RESOLUTION OPP05ING THE ADOPTION OF MINIMUM
PAINTING STANDARDS (Assembly Bill 972}
~6fHEREAS, the County of Butte is pr®sently enforcing the pr~tvisions
of the State Housing Law applicable to apartment houses, hotels, and dwellings;
and
&9H'H:FtF'pS~ the main purpose of the State Housing Law and building
inspection i~ for the protection of the public health, safety, and general
welfare of the occupant and the public; and
Y~ERFAS, paaxzting standards do not affect in any way the protection
of the public health, saf®ty~ and g®neral welfare of the occupant and the
public; and
4~HEREAS, the painting standards as proposed by Assembly Bill 972
would be impossible to enforce; and
'~iHF.RFAS, the painting standards are superfluous and not in the
realm of building standards;
NOW THEREFORE, BE TT RESOLVED, that the Butte County Board of
Supervisors does hereby go on record as strenuously opposing the adoption
of the minimum painting standards; and
BE,:2T FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution be sent
to legislative representatives of this County as well as the State Division
of Housing.

I noted in the Chico paper under date of ~~.pril lst,
your concern about the proposed state Painting Code.
I made inquiry of Mr. Francis Dunn, Chief of Housing
Division, about the matter. ~Ie states that two pub-
lic hearings are scheduled on the proposal....the
first on ivIay 1.9th in Z,os Angeles and the second one
on ~"une 3rd in Oakland.
It would certainly be advisable for you to be at one
or both of these hearings to register your disapproval.
I concur with your thinking that there are too many
regulations, and this particular proposal would be
extremely difficult and costly to administer.
