RESOLU'T'ION IN RE LAW DAY U o S . A .

5 WHEREAS, the state of world affairs makes it especially
g fitting that each of us, as citizens of this great nation, should
7 reaffirm our faith in the rule of law and in the supremacy of
g government by laws rather than men; and
g W~tEREAS, the Congress of the United States, and the Presider
lp by official proclamation, have designated May 1 as Law Day USA,
11 The basic aims of Law Day are to fostex increased respect for
12 law, for independent courts which uphold the law, and for a deepe7
13 awareness of the benefits and responsibilities of citizenship; anc
14 WHEREAS, liberty and equality for the individual are what
15 distinguish our system of government from communism, under which
16 millions of people today live in fear and tyranny, No better time
17 could be chosen to call public attention to our great heritage of
lg individual liberty under law.
19 NOW, THEREFORE, the BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF
20 BUTTE, do hereby designate Saturday, May 1, 1965, as Law Day USA
21 in the County of Butte, and call upon all citizens, organizations
22 and schools to recognize this special day with suitable programs,
23 ceremonies and education activities.
24 The foregoing Resolution was introduced by Supervisor
25 Giles who moved its adoption, seconded by Supervisor
2g Hororsden , and said Resolution was adopted and passed this
27 27th day of April, 1965, upon roll call by the following vote:
28 AYES: Supervisors Giles, Howsden,lMcKillop and Chairman Pryde
NOES : None
29 ABSENT: Supervisor Maxon
