HomeMy WebLinkAbout65-062RESOLUTION NO. 65 "'~i~+ '1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9'' 10 Z1 12 Z3 14 15 16 '17 i18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 '29 30 31 BOARD OF SUPERVISORS COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO UNITED STATES SENATE BILL N0, 1592 AND HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES BILL NOo 6628 tiTHEREAS, the Congress of the United States has pending ', before it for action, Senate Bill Noa 1592, and House of Representatives Bill No4 6628, which would authorize. the federal government to assert absolute control of sale and possession of firearms; and ~1HEREA5, such legislation would seriously infringe upon the rights of the citizens of the United States to possess and bear arms# as guaranteed by the second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States; and AHII2F,A5, such legislation would not materially affect the use of firearms by criminal elements of our society, but would unreasonably interfere with the legitimate use of firearms by reputable citizens; and T~HERk;A~, such Legislation would materially and adversely affect the recreaticn industry within the United States., NOW, THF,REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California,, as follows. That this board go on record as strongly opposing United Mates Senate Bill No a- 1592 and House of Representatives Bill No, 6628, as being an unreasonable} unsatisfactory and unconstitutional means of attempting to prohibit the use of firearms by the criminally inclined elements of our society.
