2 COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
3 RES0LUTION ENDORSING SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION ~~2 UNITED STATES
CONGRESS
-WHEREAS, reapportionment of the Legislature of the State of

California is of vital concern to the County of Butte and;
'6
AHEREAS, this Board of Supervisors deems it necessary to
7
consider the will of the people and;
8
WHEREAS, Senate Joint Resolution proposing the amendment to ~~
9
the Constitution of the United States provides the vehicle
10
whereby the people of the State may make their own decision as to
11
the apportionment of each house of bicameral legislature on the
12
basis of factors other than population.

NOW, THk,REFOR:S, be it resolved by the Board of Supervisors

of which the County of Butte endorses and urge the passage of
I5
Senate Joint Resolution ~~2 and;
16
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that this Board endorses the
17
the proposal to permit the citizens of any State to decide by
18
popular vote how one house of a two house State Legislature shall
19
be apportioned;
20
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of this Board is
21
instructed to mail a copy of this Resolution to the Honorable
22
Senators and Representatives of the State of California in the
'23
United State Congress and to any other interested persons as may
24
be designated by the chairman of this Board.

PASSES AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the
26
County of Butte, State of California, this 13th day of July ,
