COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO H.R. 8487
'yTIiEREAS, the Congress of the United States now has under
cons~.deration H,R. 8487, which would require diversion of federal
aid secondary highway funds to be used for beautification of
highway projects; and
WHEREAS, said funds are inadequate to assist in the
construction of necessary secondary roads, particularly in the
rural areas; and
WHEREAS, reduced funds mean reduced standards, all to
the detriment of the safety to highway users,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Butte:
1. That they hereby oppose the passage of H,R. 8487; and
2. That a copy of this resolution be sent to the Honor»
able H~:rold T. (Bizz) .7ohnson, the Honorable Thomas H, Kuchel,
the Honorable George Murphy, and to such other parties as may be
deemed proper by the chairman of this boardo
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Butte, State of California, this 17th day of August,
1965, by the following vote:
AYES: SiTPERVI TORS GILES, HOWSDERT, MAXO~; ~ McTCILLOP~ and
CHAIRMAN PPYDE.
NOES: NONE
