COUNTY OF BUTTE, ;STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION REQUESTING ESTABLISHMENT OF BRANCH OFFTCE OF THE
DEPARTMENT OF WATER RESOURCES IN CHIGO, BUTTE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
WHEREAS, the Department of Water Resou;rce'.s of the State.
of California has declared its intent to establish a regional':
office in the northern area of California, and
WHEREAS, the City of Chico and the County of Butte offers
an adequate location by its proximity to the various projects such
as the Newville~Paskanta Dam, the Middle Fork of the Eel River and
other projects under consideration, and
~ WHEREAS, there is available immediate temporary office
quarters at the Chico Municipal Airport to meet immediate short
term requirements, and that as a g.rmanent site immediately
adjacent to the new freeway on the north side of Chico, there is
a three acre parcel on which facilities may be constructed to the
specifications of the Department of Water Resources, and
~7HEREAS, the excellent elementary high school and college
facilities in the Chico area will provide desirable educational
facilities for the families of the employees of the Department of
Water Resourcesy .arid
W~TEREAS, Chico is a hub of transporation facilities
extending to all areas within the department as activities by way
of highway facilities and air transporation, and
WtTEREAS, there isaTailable for the personnel of the
department an adequate supply of rental apartments and housing
depending upon the individuals needs,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Butte that this Board urges the Department or'
Water Resources to establish their Division Headquarters in the City
of Chico, County of Butte.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution
be sent to the Director of Department of Water Resources, Director

of the Department of Natural Resources, to the Governor of the
State of California, to the Honorable Senator.-,James Gobey, to
the Honorable Senator Stan Pittman, the Honorable Assemblyman
Ray .7ohnson, and to such other and interested officers as may
be desired by the Chairman of the Berard of Supervisors.
PASSED AND A DOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Butte, State of California an the 24th day of August,
1965 by the following vote:
