3' COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
4 RESOLUTION APPROVING EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM IN COUNTY
CORRECTIONAL FACILITY

g WHEREAS, under recent State of California legislation it is
7. now possible for public schools to offer educational programs in
8 county correctional facilities; and
g WHEREAS, Oroville Union High School District has planned and
10 made available such an educational program for inmates of the
11 Butte County Jail; and
12 WHEREAS, such educational grogram is financed entirely by
13 the State Department of Educ:at~on working through. the Oroville
14 Union High School District; and
15 WHEREAS, the Sheriff, as officer in charge of the county
16 correctional facilities, may, subject to the approval of the
17 Board of Supervisors, provide for training of inmates confined
lg to the county jail or other correctional facilities; and
19 WHEREAS, the Sheriff may, subject to such board approval,
20 enter into an agreement with the governing board of any school
21 district maintaining secondary schools for the maintenance by
22 the district of such adult education classes,
23 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
24 of the County of Butte, State of California, as follows:
2B 1. That the Board of Supervisors does hereby ratify and
26 approve the adult educational program developed by the Oroville
27 Union I-iigh School District for the training of inmates in the
28 Butte County Jail.
29 2. That pursuant to Section 4018.5 of the California Penal
30 Code, the Sheriff of Butte County, Larry Gillick, be, and he
31 hereby is, authorized to enter into an agreement with the
32 governing board of the Oroville Union High School District for
to
1 the maintenance, by the district, for such'inmates of adult ed-
2 ucation classes conducted purs uant to Article 12 commencing with
3 Section 6351) of Chapter 6 of Division 6 of the Education Code.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the BOARD OF SUPERVISORS of the County
6 of Butte, State of California, this 18th day of January, 1366, by
6 the following vote:
