BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
1. COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNTA
2 RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING TREE REMOVAL POLICY WITHIN
THE STREET RIGHTS-OF-WAY IN THE UNINCORPORATED AREA
3: OF BUTTE COUNTY
4 WHEREAS, tree removal, has become a critical problem to
5; the county by virtue of the hazards created in rights-of-ways;
6 and
7 WHEREAS, it is necessary for the protection of the citizens
!8 of Butte County that a policy concerning tree removal be made; and
9'. WHEREAS, it is necessary that an orderly method of removal
10 and conservation be established,
lI NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
12 OF THE COUNTY OF BUTTE:
13' 1. That a committee, composed of the Planning Director
14 of Butte County, the Director of Public Works of Butte County,
15` and an interested citizen who shall be appointed by the Board
16' of Supervisors from the district in which tree removal is necessar
17 or requested, is hereby established. That said committee shall
lg. function within the policies of this board and as hereafter set
19 forth or may hereafter be established;
20;: 2. That the Director of Pcablic Works has the authority
21' to remove or give permission to trim or remove trees from county
22 rights-of-ways for maintenance and construction purposes and to
23 eliminate hazards and conditions which create liability or danger;
24 3. That removal of trees for the convenience of property
23, owners shall be approved only after review by the above committee
26 at the request of the citizen. Citizens requesting removal. of
27 trees from county rig'nts-of-ways shall-furnish to the committee
28 information regarding number, type, location of trees, and reasons
29 for removal;
30 4. That the Department of Public Works will ascertain
33 the status of the rights-of-way as they pertain`:. to the tree
32. removal and salvage ownership;

+l' S. That the committee shall review and view trees and
2: reasons for the removal requested;
3 6. That in the event the owner requesting removal is dis-
4 satisfied with the determination of this committee, he may request
~ the Board of Supervisors to review the finding of the committee
6 and the determination of this Board of Supervisors shall be final
7"` and conclusive; and
'8 7. That it shall be the policy of this committee to en-
lg deavor to preserve and retain all trees in the community not
~;0 necessary to be removed.

12 County of Butte, State of California, at the regular meeting
13 thereof on the 8th day of March, 1366, by the following voter
