HomeMy WebLinkAbout66-069RESOLUTION NO . 66 '~~ / BOARD OF SUPERVISORS 1' COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA 2 RESOLUTION PROTESTING THE PROPOSED ABANDONMENT BY WESTERN PACIFIC COMPANY OF PASSENGER SERVICE 3 4 WHEREAS, the Western Pacific Company has publicly stated 5, that it proposes to seek permission from state and federal regu- 6 latory agencies to abandon its passenger service facilities; and 7' WHEREAS, said facilities comprise a vital and integral. g part of the economy of the Oroville area; and g WHEREAS, said transportation facilities have been and still 10 are vital and necessary as a means of ingress and egress in and to 11 the Oroville area, 12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Butte County Board of 13 Supervisors as follows: 14' 1. That said board does hereby of record protest the afore 15 said proposed abandonment by Western Pacific Company of its said 16 passenger service facilities referred to hereinabove. 17 2. That said board does hereby urge the Interstate lg Commerce Commission, the Public Utilities Commission and all other 19 regulatory agencies concerned therewith, to deny said Western 2p Pacific Company's application for permission to terminate said 21 service. 22' 3. The board further directs that copies of this resolut- 23 ion be forwarded to the Interstate Commerce Commission, the Public 24 Utilities Commission, and to the board of supervisors of counties 2g similarly situated and served by said railroad. 26 4.
