BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION .ACKNOWLEDGING PUBLIC SERVICE OF J.D. (JACK) BRERETON
WHEREAS, recently afire occurred in the residence of
Robert Bird, exposing to extreme danger the children of Mr. and
Mrs. Bird; and
WHEREAS, acting in a heroic and expeditious manner, J.A.
(JACK) BRERETON rescued the three children of the Birds from the
burning building; and
WHEREAS, while making said rescue, J.D. (JACK) BRERETON
exposed himself to the possibility of injury, or even death,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF TiiE COUNTY OF
BUTTE RESOLVES AS T'OLLOWS:
That J.D. (JACK) BRERETON be commended for his heroic
actions and quick thinking to save the lives of the Bird children.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this reso~
lution be forwarded to J.D. (JACK) BRERETON as a commendation for
his heroic acts.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of Butte
County this 16th day of August, 1966, by the following vote:
AYES: SUPERVISORS HOWSDEN, MAXON, McKILLOP, PRYDE, and
CHAIRMAN GILES.
NOES: NONE.
ABSENT: NONE.
