BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
1 COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
2 RESOLUTION URGING STRONGER AND MORE EFFECTIVE CONTROL
OF OBSCENE AND PRURIENT PUBLICATIONS

4 WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte
6 has been concerned with obscene and pornographic literature that
6 is presently being circulated in the county and in. the State of
7 California; and
$ WHEREAS, this board believes there is a strong public
9 necessity for effective constitutional control of obscenity,
10 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE B04RD OF SUPERVISORS
I1 OF THE COUNTY OF :BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, as follows:
12 That this board urges passage of law by the 'State Legis-
13 lature that will effectively and constitutionally control the
14 publication of obscene material, and will effectively and
15 constitutionally make it unprofitable to ptb lish and distribute
16 prurient publications.
17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Cle rk of this board forward
18 /
copies of this resolution to the Honorable Ronald Reagan, Governor
19 Elect, and to Assemblyman Ray Johnson and Senator Fred Marler,
20 and such further interested persons as this board may designate.
21 PASSED AND ADOPTED this.l5th day of November, 1966, by
22 the following vote:
23 AYES: Supervisors Howsden, Maxon, MciCillop, Pryde and Chairman Giles
24 NOES: None
25 ABSENT; None
