Howsden is hereby authorized and designated as the representative of the County of Butte , State of California, to sign and present an application on its behalf to the Department of Veterans Affairs of the State of California for State moneys under Section 972 of the Military and Veterans Code, State of California, Chapter 1493, Statutes of 1945; and be it FURTHER RESOLVED: That said representative is hereby authorized and designated to execute an agreement on behalf of said County with said Department of Veterans Affairs covering the terms and conditions under which any amount of State moneys is to be granted to the said County; and be it FURTFIER RESOLVED: That the amount of State moneys to be allotted will be deter- mined by the Department of Veterans Affairs, and matching funds may be provided by the County in the proportions as required by agreement with said Department. A copy of a Resolution adopted by the County Board of Supervisors authorizing .this application, a copy of our final approved budget for this office for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1967, and form DSC lla for retirement information, are hereby attached to and made a part of this application. Giles, Chairman Butte County Board of Supervisors Courthouse Oroville, California Dear Mr. Giles: The Department of Veterans Affairs is now preparing to make allotments of State funds for county veteran service officers' salaries and expenses for the fiscal year beginning July 1, Ig66, and ending June 30, 19b7, in accordance with the following policy adopted by the California Veterans Board at its meeting on June 10, 1866. 1. g5 per cent of the salary paid to the county veteran service officer or $75 per month toward the payment of such salary, whichever is the lesser amount. 2. g5 per cent of the expenditures for materials, supplies and service required for activities of the county veteran service officer, or $150 per quarter thereof, whichever is the lesser amount. 3. Not less than 30 per cent nor more than 80 per cent of the salary paid one assistant to the county veteran service officer. In the event the salary of the assistant equals or exceeds that of the county veteran service officer, the reimbursement for the salary of the assistant shall be 30 per cent. tf. 30 per cent of the salaries of additonal assistants to the county veteran service officer. 5. In no event shall the total amount of State funds expended on any county veteran service office exceed $35,000. Enclosed are application and related forms in triplicate which should be completed and returned in duplicate to this office as soon as possible together with a copy of the final approved budget for your county veteran Chairman, Board of Supervisors -2- July 18, 1966 service office as approved by your board, showing the annual salary and retirement information for each position listed. When your application has been approved by this Department and the Department of Finance, contracts will be mailed to your authorized representative for execution in quadruplicate. This authorized representative may not be the county veteran service officer himself.
