RESOLUTION RATTFYING AUTHORITY IN THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC
`G10RKS WTTH REGARDS TO THE PLACING OF DOUBLE LINES ON
HIGHi~7AYS AS DESCRIBED IN VEHICLE.. CODE SECTION 21459, et
seq, AND AUTHORITY FOR THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO
PLACE SUCH ROAD MARKINGS IN THE FUTURE
1AHEREAS, the County of Butte maintains a road system in the
county; and
WHEREAS, in various parts of the county visibility for one
vehicle overtaking and passing another is affected; and
WHEREAS, Vehicle Code Section 21459, et seq, provides that
a local authority, in this instance the County of Butte acting
through its Board of Supervisors, is authorized to place and
maintain the roadway markers as described with the effect set
forth in Vehicle Code Section 21460; and
?,WHEREAS, because of the volume of traffic or vertical or
other curvature of the roadway in many instances renders it
hazardous to drive on the left side of the ros dway; and
'WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has caused to be placed
upon more of the county highways the roadway markings set out in
Vehicle Code Section 21460,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED by the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Butte, Stale of California, as
follows:
1. That the road markers previously placed by the Director
of Public I7orks, as described and with the effect set forth in
Vehicle Code Section 21460, are hereby ratifie d by this boards
2, The Director of Public ?,forks is hereby authorized to
eliminate:. any of said double markers where public safety would
not be endangered, and where it would be in public interest to
eliminate said markingso
3. The Director of Public Works is authorized to place road-
way markers for public safety as described and with the effect
set forth in Vehicle Code Section 21460, based upon the factors

enumerated in Vehicle Code Section 21459.
PASSED AND ADOPTE- this 7th day of February, 1967,
by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dunaway, Maxon, McKillop, Pxyde and Chairman Howsden
NOES : None
