MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS AND HIGHWAY LIGHTS
ESPLANADE AND EAST AVENUE

1 WHEREAS, the County of Butte has traffic signals and two highway
2 lights installed at the intersection of Esplanade and East Avenue and;
3 WHEREAS, the County does not have adequate personnel or equipment for
4. the maintenance of such traffic signals and highway lights;
5 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVID that the State of California,
6 Division of Highways, be requested to maintain said traffic signals and highway
7 lights at an estimated cost of X250.00 for the 1967--68 fiscal year. '
$ BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following "Save Harmless" provision
9 is approved by the Board in connection with such maintenance,
10 '~It is expressly understood and agreed by the County that
the State of California and its officers and its employees
1T' shall not be answerable or accountable in any manner for
injuries to or the death of persons or for any damage to
12 property resulting .from the operation of or the failure to
maintain the traffic signals and highway lights.

"The County agrees to idemnify and save harmless the State
14 of California and its officers and employees from all suits,
actions or claims of any character brought as a consequence of the
15 operation of or the failure to maintain the traffic signals and
highway lights."

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVID that the County will deposit sufficient funds
17
got to exceed X250.00 with the Division of Highways for the maintenance of said
18
signals and highway lights during the 19b7-bS fiscal year.
