RrSOLUTION PdO. 68-56'' BOA~2D OF SUPrKVISORS COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA A RnSOLUTION SUPPORTING FED'~AL LEGISLATIO\T TO URGE; THE; UNITED STATES TO COLLECT WORLD LdAR I DEBT FROLI FRANCE _ _ _._ .. __ _ -.._. _____WiiEREAS, -the people_of .the ,United States of Am..rica, in ._ .. --twb world r~,*ars;--have-generously given-the -lives aid resources of our nation in order to protect and re-establish the freedor^ of the p'~ople o.` France; and WHE'RnAS, the government of the United •States has establishe certain sums involved with the conflict,.World War I, as being , partial reimbursement for goods grid materials loaned or expended in behalf of tiio_ government of France; and= WFIEREAS, the government of France is-now actively engaged in a program of transferring and accumulating gold from the United .States on current trade matters, F;t:ile at the same tune the government of France has not paid the United States for its debts involved with both World War.I and World War II; and WH~~REAS, the United States is presently involved in heavy military as well as political commitments througl-~out the world which are straining our present financial resources; and WHFiEAS, various boards of supervisors representing different counties of the State of California have expressed a similar resolve, NOW, TH?~REFOZ~F, Er IT RESOLVED that the, Board of Super- visors of Butte County, California, representing the people of our .county as their local legislative body, does herein signify its support for present legislatioii•by the Congress of the United States to cause our Fed=_~al Government to take every effort and measure available to. collect the debt o~,ed by France .to the Unite . States, estimated to be in excess of Six Billion Dollars for World War I ; and ~ ~ •.
