BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION ENDORSING MERIT SYSTEM OF JUDGES
WHEREAS, the present system of selecting the Judges has
been based upon appointment by tine Governor; and
WHEREAS, many times political implications enter into
the selection of said judges; and
T~IIEREAS, the people of the State of California are entitled
to the best qualified men on their judiciary; and
~IEREAS, this board feels that the Merit System is a proper
system for the selection of judges9
i NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Butte, State of California that they hereby
endorse the Merit System for selection of judges in the
State of California, and urge its adoptiono
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be forwarded
to the Honorable Ronald Regan, Governor, Honorable Fred Marler,
Senator, the Honorable Ray Johnso~-, Assemblyman and to such other
interested parties that may be designated by this board,
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County
of Butte, State of California, this 18th day of June, 1965, by the
following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Runaway, Howsden, McKillop and Acting Chairman Pryde
NOES : None
ABSENT : Cha~.rman Maxon
