RESOLUTION ESTABLISHTNG PROCEDUP~~u FO.It BILLING THE
COUNTY OF BUTTE BY THE BUTTE COMMUNITY HOSPITAL

WHEREAS, heretofore. this board has set out various billing
procedures for the Butte Community Hospital 'and a more detailed
explanation of said procedure is desirable for all parties
concerned,
NOI~, THEREFORE, BL IT P.ESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Butte, State of California, as follows:
1. Monthly, on or before the 10th day of the month follow-
ing, a list billing of all Group 3 as defined in Medical Principles
of option coverage for the month. will be presented to~the Board of
Supervisors by the Hospital Administrator,, The total amount of
this billing shall be reduced by the total ,cash payments for
patient services, from` any source other than medicare, medi-cal,
county departments and patient sources applicable to Medicare
co-insurance and deductibles received by the hospital during the
month, The net amount of the monthly billing will be advanced to
the hospital from the County General Fund appropriation for
Support and Care of Persons account in the Medical Services Budget
(56-00-420)
2, Payments advanced to the hospital by~the County General
Fund shall not be credited to individual patient ledgers.
3. .Hospital shall continue collection effort on these
accounts until normal hospital collection activity is exhausted.
When accounts are determined to be uncollectible through normal
hospital effort, a request shall be made, by the Hospital
Administrator to the Board of Supervisors, to transfer those open
accounts to the County Genera l.Func, in custody of the Collection
Agency.
4. Accounts "purchased" from the hospital by the County
General Fund shall be, audited by the County Auditor to determine

legality as to county charge, propriety of charges for services
and amount of hospital collection effort.,
5. Charges for services to "county:' patients sha11 be adjus
annually to the actual-cost of,providing service in the same
manner as charges to Medicare and Medi cal patients.
6. Accounts receivable applicable to service performed prio
to July 1, 1966 should be maintained in a separate control
account and should not be considered in the foregoing .procedures.
