BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
1tESOLUTION CONCERNING ANNUAL SURVEY WAGE CONSTDERATTON,
AN'D ADOPTION OF THE ANNUAL SALARY ORDNANCE
WHEREAS, as expressed in Resolution No. 62-5, the Board
of Supervisors has established a policy to annually review the
salaries paid to Butte County employees; and
WHEREAS, said annual review is to take into consideration
the prevailing rate of pay for comparable work in the public and
private sector, together with current costs of living, recommend-
ations by the department heads and recognized employee groups,
and the economic condition of the county; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of Supervisors to
fully consider and establish the salaries to be paid county
employees during each fiscal year prior to consideration of the
annual proposed budget,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVID by the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Butte, State of California, as follows:
1. The ~idministrative Office shall prepare and publish an
annual salary survey no later than January 15th each year. The
survey shall show the salaries paid in comparable counties, local
public agencies and in the local private sector as of January lst
of that year.
2. The Administrative Office shall9 after conferring with
department heads and recognized employee groups, prepare and sub-
mit ao the Board of Supervisors, no later than the second Tuesday
of February each year, a proposed salary ordinance for the ensuing
fiscal year.
3. The board shall, between the second Board meeting in
February and the first Board meeting in March, conduct a hearing
.for the purpose of considering the proposed salary plan, together
with the recommendations of department heads, recognized employee
groups, individual employees and other interested parties.
4. It is the intent of the board, that salaries for each

fiscal year shall be fixed by ordinance by March lst to be
effective no later than July 1st and that any increase granted
therein be included in each department budget appearing in the
annual proposed budget.
5. Tt is the further intent of the board that each annual
salary ordinance incorporate only the salaries of existing
positions, and that salaries for any new positions which may be
included in the annual proposed budget be established for the
ensuing fiscal year by a separate ordinance to be passed upon
or after the adoption of the final budget.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisars of the.County
of Butte, State of California, this loth day of December,
1968, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dunaway, Howsden, McKillop, Pryde and Chairman Maxon
