BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY' OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO IRS
REGISTRATION OF FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION
WHEREAS, the members of the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Butte, State of California, are opposed to unreasonable
control of firearms anu ammunition, and we believe that parts of
the Federal Gun Control Law of 1968 are unreasonable, unworkable,
and place an unnecessary burden on the law abiding citizens and
dealers; anu
WHEREAS, the regulations referred to are the federal regis-
tration of firearms and ammunition of the type used by the average.
citizen for sport and for self-protection; and
WHEREAS, we believe that better gun control can be achievea
by increasing the mandatory penalties fur those persons who use.
firearms in the commission of any unlawful act; and
WHEREAS, we believe that such laws are contrary to the will
of the majority of people of this state and nation,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT KESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Butte, State of California, as follows:
That we hereby request that the federal registration of
firearms and ammunition as required in the Gun Control Act of ly6y
be repealed; and that mandatory and severe penalties for those who;
use firearms in unlawful acts be enacted.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County;
of Butte, State of California, this 25th day of February, lyb9,
by the following vote:
