BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION REQUESTING TfiE OFFICIAL NAME OF ENTERPRISE
BRIDGE FOR A BRIDGE PREVIOUSLY REFERRED TO AS THE
B. ABBOTT GOLDBERG BRIDGE
WHEREAS, the State of California constructed a very
'beautiful and scenic bridge on the relocated portion of Feather
Falls Road, which road had to be relocated because of the Oroville
Dam Reservoir; and
WHEREAS, the bridge is in the same locale as the historic
town of Enterprise; and
WHIItEAS, L-he town of Enterprise is now inundated by the
Oroville Dam Reservoir; and
W'dEREAS, the County of Butte is very interested in preserv-
ing and honoring its picturesque and interesting history; and
WHEREAS, this board wishes to preserve the historic names
of the community; and
WHEREAS, without consultation with the County of Butte, or
any local organizations, the State of California has reflected, in
many of its publications, that the bridge should be known as the
B. Abbott Goldberg Bridge, and although B. Abbott Goldberg has a
long and honorable career in public service, including that of
Deputy Director of Public Works, and was appointed Superior Court
Judge of the State of California, in and for the County of
Sacramento, by the then Governor, Edmund G. Brown, and presently
continues to serve the public with distinction in that capacity;
and
WHEREAS, this board does not believe that a bridge, or any
other public works, should be named for a public official who
continues to serve in an elective position,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the aforementioned
bridge be officially named "The Enterprise Bridge'°, and that all
state records referring to said bridge be changed accordingly.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be

sent to the Honorable Ronald Reagan, Governor of the State of
California, the Honorable Ray Johnson, Assemblyman, the Honorable
Fred Marler, Senator of the State of California, and any and all
other interested persons.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte County Board of Supervisors
this /~th day of March, 1969, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dunaway, $owsden, Maxon, Reynolds
and Chairman McKillop
NOES: None
