HomeMy WebLinkAbout69-044RESOLUTION N0. 69-'1~ BOARD OF SUPERVISORS l 2 3 4 5 e 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 i4 35 18 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 2B 28 27 28 29 30 ''' 31 32 I COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA RESOLUTION PROPOSING LEGISLATION FOR REIMBURSEMENT TO COUNTIES BY THE STATE FOR THE COST OF MAINTAIN- ING GOVERNMENTAL FACILITIES USED BY TOURISTS, VISITORS AND CAMPERS WHEREAS, in many counties in the State of California, particularly those lying along the seacoast, the area of land devoted to state beaches and parks is out of proportion to the ratio between the area of the county and the area of the state; and WHEREAS, these lands are not included in the local tax rolls and therefore produce no local tax revenues; and WHEREAS, an extraordinary number of people from other areas visit these state beaches and parks each year, creating problems ,of road construction and maintenance, policing of beach areas, !cleanup of litter, and operation of courts; and WHEREAS, visitors to state facilities -spehd money in local areas, but this is at best an indirect benefit to local government, while the cost of facilities and services which must be provided is a direct detriment to the local government, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Board hereby urges the state government to develop a formula, preferably based on the number of visitors to an area, which would reimburse local governments for the extraordinary costs incurred in providing facilities and services for visitors brought to said local areas by the presence of state beaches and parks.
