RESOLUTION N0. 69-~~
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION ENDORSING HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES BILL 889
WHEREAS, this board has been made aware of the provisions
of House of Representatives Bi11 889; and
WHEREAS, House of Representatives Bill 889 would limit the
scope of questions to be requested by census takers; and
WHEREAS, the present categories of questions verge on,-and
possibly exceed, a violation of the right of privacy as protected
by the Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Butte, State of California, as follows:
1. That this board strongly endorses House of Represent-
atives Bill 889, and respectfully commends its passage by the
Congress of the United States.
2.~That a copy of this resolution be sent to the Honorable
George Murphy, Senator of the United States, the Honorable Allan
~ ~
Cranston, Senator of the United States, the Honorable Harold T,
Johnson, Assemblyman'o.f the! United -States.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Butte, State of California, this ist day of April, 1969,
by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Dunaway, Maxon and Reynolds
NOES: Supervisor Howsden and Chairman McT~illop
