RESOLUTION N0. 69-~
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO THE CONTINUED
FINANCING OF THE CALIFORNIA RURAL L]7GAL AID
WHEREAS, this board has viewed with dismay the type of legal
actions in which the California Rural Legal Aid group has interes
itself; and
WHEREAS, the California Rural Legal Aid has been instrument-
al in costing the taxpayers considerable sums of money, both in
paying for their services and in paying for the results of their
services; and
WHEREAS, California Rural Legal Aid has concerned itself
primarily with litigation opposing the State of California and
local governmental entities, rather than demonstrating a concern
for the legal problems of the poor,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Butte, State of Californja, that they respectfully
request that the Honorable Ronald Reagarn/, Governor of the State of
California, veto and disallow the California Rural Legal Aid
request for funding by the Federal government.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
sent to the Honorable Ronald Reagan, Governor of the State of
Calif ornia .
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Sumvisors of the County
of Butte, State of California, this lst day of April, 1969, by the
following vote:
AYES: Supervisors 7lunaway, Maxon and Chairman McKillop
NOES: Supervisor Ha*xsden
ABSENT: None
ABSTAINING: Supervisor Reynolds
