BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION COMMENDING ASSEMBLYMAN RAY JOH:JSON FOR HIS
CONCERN FOR PROBLEMS AT CHICO STATE COLLEGE
WHEREAS, this board is aware of the issues emenating from
a certain examination given by Professor Jack H. Zeilenga of
the Physics Department at Chico State College; and
WHEREAS, this board wishes to commend Assemblyman Ray
Johnson for his concern in this matter; and
WHEREAS, this board is also concerned over the problems
emenating throughout the higher education system of this state,
with particular reference to an attempt by certain faculty
members to impose their particular ideological concepts upon the
students at those institutions,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL~ZED by the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Butte, State of California, as follows:
1. That this board respectfully commends Assemblyman Ray
Johnson for his position on problems presently existing in
higher education in this state, and with particular reference to
his concern over that particular examination referred to above.
2. That this board also commends Assemblyman Johnson for
bringing this particular matter to the attention of the
Legislature of the State of California, and sincerely hopes that
the Legislature shall-see fit to amend the tenure provisions
so that the administrations of these various institutions of
higher learning can take appropriate action to resolve these
aroblems.
3. That the Clerk of this board forward a copy of this
resolution to the Honorable Ray Johnson, Assemblyman of the
State ofCalif ornia, and to any other interested parties.
