RESOLUTION N0. 69-120
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
COUNTY OF .BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
RESOLUTION COMMENDING CHICO STATE PROFESSORS
AND THE FACULTY SENATE OF CHICO STATE COLLEGE
WHEREAS, this board is aware of recent incidents at Chico
State College which are currently being reported in the news media
as the "Zeilenga Affair"; and
WHEREAS, the news media has reported that a group of Chico
State College professors, including the elected faculty Senate,
have assumed it to be their professional responsibility to
criticize certain actions of a fellow educator in connection with
the "~eilenga Affair"; and
WHEREAS, this board believes that the future success of our
public educational institutions requires that all educators exer-
cise that high degree of professional responsibility which
necessarily commands that their professional performance not be
adversely affected by their personal philosophies,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Butte, State of California, as follows:
1. That this board respectfully commends the group of Chico
State College professors referred to above, and the Faculty Senate
of Chico State College for their action.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County
of Butte, State of California, this 8th day of July, 1969, by the
following vote:
AYES:Supervisors Runaway, Howsden, Maxon, Reynolds and Chairman McKi11c
NOES: None
