HomeMy WebLinkAbout69-158RESOLUTION N0. 69- fs(~ BOARD OF S~JPERVISORS 1 COUNTY OF BUTTE, STATE OF CALIFORNIA 2 RESOLUTION URGING REMEDIAL LEGISLATION CONCERNING BUSINESS INVENTORIES PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION 3: ~} WHEREAS, in 1968, the Legislature enacted property tax relief in the form of a 15% business inventories exemption; and g WHEREAS, it was understood to be the intent of the g Legislature that this exemption not operate so as to decrease g revenues at the county level; and g WHEREAS, reimbursement monies have been allocated to all to counties by the State for the 1969-70 fiscal year in a manner 11 which has arbitrarily yielded windfalls to some counties while 12 shorting others; and 13' WHEREAS, in the fiscal year 1969-70, the County of Butte 14 will lose $206,846 in property tax revenues due to the business 15 inventories exemption; and 16 WHEREAS, the State has allocated only 5158,449 as reim- 17 bursement for this loss, lg NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors 19 of the County of Butte, State of California, as follows: 20 That the California Legislature act as soon as possible 21 to provide remedial legislation to establish a fair and equitable 22 method of reimbursing counties for tax revenues lost as a result 23 of the business inventories exemption. 24 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be 2g sent to the Honorable Ronald Reagan, Governor of the State of 28 California, the Honorable Fred Marley, Senator of the State of 2q California, and the Honorable Ray Johnson, Assemblyman of the State 28 of California. 29 30 . 31 32' .~~ iS i- 1 PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the 2 County of Butte, State of California, this lath day of September, 3 19b9, by the following vote: 4 AYES: Supervisors Dunaway Howsden~ Maxon Aeynolds~ Chairman McKillop 5 NOES: NONE 6 ABSENT: NONE 7 8 J McKILLOP, Chai man of t e 9 to County Board of Supervisors 10 11 ATTEST: 12 CLARK A.
