HomeMy WebLinkAbout69-181 REQUESTING LEGISLATIVE ASSISTANCE IN THE ABATEMENT AND REMOVAL OF ABANDONED,. WRECKED DISMANTLED OR INOPERATIVE VEHICLES WHEREAS, in 1967 the Legislature adopted Section 22660 of the Vehicle Code, which authorizes counties to adopt ordinances establishing procedures for the abatement and removal as public nuisances of abandoned, wrecked, dismantled or inoperative vehicles; and WHEREAS, said section provides that ordinances adopted pursuant to the authority contained in said section require a procedure which is so expensive and time consuming as to preclude the effective utilization of the authority contained in said section; and WHEREAS, the continued accumulation of abandoned, wrecked, dismantled or inoperative vehicles in this county constitutes a nuisance and is inimical to the health and welfare of the residents of this county, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte requests its legislative representatives to seek revision of existing legislation which will allow the effective abatement and removal of abandoned, wrecked, dismantled or inopera- tive vehicles and which will provide State technical and financial assistance to counties to aid in the accomplishment of said abatement and removal.
