HomeMy WebLinkAbout69-190BO~4R'D OF 'SUPERVISORS COU~lTY'OE BUTTE,'STA°fE OF' `CAL1FiORPJIA Resolution LVo 190 RESOLUTTON IN OPPOSITION TO FEDERAL SENATE BILL 543 WHEREAS, this board has been made aware of the provisions of Federal Senate Bill 543; and WHEREAS, this proposed legislation would prohibit a county library such as this county operates, or any library, from making a single copy of mater~.al from reference books; and WHEREAS, by so prohibiting the making a~ copies, the effectiv e utilization of the facilities and reference materials of our county library will be greatly diminished, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RE50LVED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California that this board opposes the provisions of Federal Senate Bi11 543 and in the alternative respectfully requests passage of an amendment to Federal Senate Bill 543 which would confirm a librarian's right to make a single copy for a library user without risking the claim of copyright infringement. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be forwarded to the Honorable A11an Cranston, U.S. Senator, Honorable George Murphy, U.S. Senator, Honorable Harold T. "Bizz" Johnson, Congressman, and any other interested party. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State of California, this 25th day of November, 1769, by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Dunavray?
