RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING THE SETTING OF
SALARIES OF CERTAIN COUNTY OFFICERS
WHEREAS, the Grand Jury of the County of Butte has
deliberated upon and made recommendations to the Legislature
of the State of California with regards to salaries of county
officers that are set by the Legislature; and
WHEREAS, said Grand Jury resolution is attached hereto
as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein as if set forth in full,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Butte,
1. That this board concurs in the recommendation of the
Grand Jury which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A" as to the
recommendations as to the auditor, grand jurymen and petit jurors.
2. That this board recommends a salary of $21,500.00 for
the district attorney, and makes no recommendation as regards its
own salary.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
sent to the Honorable Fred Marler, Senator of the State of California,
to the Honorable Ray Johnson, Assemblyman of the State of California,
and to any other interested persons.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Butte, State of California, this 2nd day of December,
1969, by the following vote:

REQUESTING AMEPID~I~VT TO GOVE:tt~1ENT CODE
' SEGTION 28126

WHERE95,-this Grand ,Jury believes there is a need for an
' increase in the salaries of those officers whose salaries are
controlled by the Lebislature of the State of California,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVaD by the Grand Jury of the
County of Butte, State of California, that Section 28126 of the
Government Code should be amended to read. as follows:
"In a_county of the.26th class the officers shall -.
receive as compensation for-the services required
of ahem by law or by .virtue~of their offices-the
.salaries and fees fixed pursuant to the .charter of
the county, except that the following shall receive _
as compensation for such services-the following
sums: -
(a) The auditor, Fourteen Thousand Dollars ($14,000.pp~
(b) The district attorney, Twenty Two Thousand Five
Hundred Dollars ($22,500.00) a year. He shall not
_ .engage in private practice of law and shall devote all
his time and attention during business hours to the
duties of his office.
(c) Each supervisor,-nine Thousand Six Hundred Dollars-
.($9,600.,00) for all services performed by him as
supervisor, member of Board of Equalization, or in any
• other capacity,. and .each supervisor shall be provided
' transportation for all his official duties, or shall
receive mileae at the rate of ten cents ($0.10) for
each. mile actually traveled within the county in the
performance of his official duties, or in going to or
from any. meeting of said beard when traveling. by
atitomobiie, and all actual and necessary traveling
expenses when traveling on county business outside the
county..

(d) Grand jurors in the superior court shall. receitre
Ten•Dcllars ($10.00) for each. days attendance and ten
cents ($0.10) for each mile actually traveled in attending
court as such jurors. Such per diem and miles e allowance
shall be paid to grant jurors far attendance at meetin;s
of committees appointed by the .Foreman of the Grand Jury
~_ and to grand jurors making individual investigations
when such investigations are authorized in writing by the
• foreman. Trim. jurors in the superior court shall receive
., - Five Dollars ($5.00) for the first days attendance at
court~an~ Seven Dollars _($7.00) for each succeeding days
attendance, together writh fifteen cents .($0.15) for..each
mile traveled in attending court as such jurors, one way
• only."
BE IT~FURTHER RESOLVED that the secretary of this Grand
:Jury shall forward a copy of this resolution .ta the Honorable Fred
- Ma.rler, State Senator representing Butte County, and to .the
Ronorable Ray Johnson, Assemblymazi representing Butte County,.
and hereby recommends to the members of the Legislature representing
• t~.e county, that these amendments be enacted into law.
