HomeMy WebLinkAbout70-092RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION N0. 62~5, RULES AND PROCEDURES FOR THE ADMINISTRATION 0~' A MERIT SYSTEM WfiEREAS, this Board finds that the Personnel Rules in force for the employees o£ the County of Butte are in need of change, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Section 8,2 of Resolution 62~5 be amended to read as follows: Section 8,2, Status of New Employees. A new employee shall be on probation during the first six months of ~.is employment except that employees appointed to the classification of Deputy Sheriff shall be on probation during the tirst twelve months of his employment. During 'this probationary period the department head shall observe the employee's ability to work. ~f at the end of the probationary period the depa~tment head believes the emp~oyee is doing his work sa~isfactorily, he shall inform the employee and the Personnel Directoro The eanployee shall then have regular status and may enjoy such privileges regarding appeal to discharge or promotion which are set forth in Orda.nan.ce No, 61-729 and in Section 809 of these rules, The status of Welfare, Health and Czvil Disas~er department employees shall be that which is provided for in this resolution or by the rules of the Merit Systiem, State Personnel Board of the State of Cali~forniao BE ZT FURTHER RESOLV~D that Sec~ion 8.3, Resolution 62-5 be amended to read as follows: Section 5,3, Status of New Employees who are Promoted. An employee having regular status who is promoted shall ~d~~Z _ ~11~~1 - . _. be on probation for six months in a new position to which he has been promoted except that employees promoted.to the position of Deputy Sheriff shall be on probation for twelve months. During this probationary period he sha11 be regarded as having' regular status in his former position. If at the end of the probationary period the department head believes the employee is performing in a satis~actory manner, he shall so znform t~e emp~oyee and the Personnel Director. The employee shall then have regular status in his new position. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVEB that Section 9,3 of Resolution 62-5 be amended to read as tollows: Section 903, Absence due to death or critical illness in a famil~o Whenever an employee in a classitied service believes it necessary that he be absent from duty because of the death of a member of his immediate family (father, mother, brother, sister, wife, husband, child, mother-in~law or father-in-law) he may request permission from his department head to be absent for not more than three working days with pay for each occasion. Any time shall not be charged to sick leave or vacation but sha11 be documented and recorded as bereavement ~eave. Whenever any emp~o~ree in the classified service believes it necessary that he be absent from duty because of the critical illness of a mesnber of his immediate family as defined in this section, he may request permission from his department head to be absent for not more than three working days w~th pay.
