OPPRESSIVE CONTROL OF F~REARMS AND ANIMiJNITI0i1
WHIlZEAS, th.e members of the Board of Supervisors o~ the County
of Butte, State of California, are opposed to unreasonable and oppressive
control of firearms and ammunition, and believe much of such regulation
is unreasonable, unworkable and places an unnecessary burden on the law
abiding citizens and deal'ers; and
WH~REAS, various unnecessary and oppressive gun control re-
gulations have been adopted and others proposed which.h.ave n.o salutary
affect on crime, but rather only tend to abridge the right of law
abiding citizens ~or u.se of firearms for sport and for self-pr~tection;
and
WHEREAS, we believe that better gun control can be achieved
by irccreasing the mandatory penalties for those persons who use fire-
arms in the commissim of any unlawful act; and
WHEREAS, we beiieve that such laws are contrary to the will o~
the majority of people of this state and natinn,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Sup~rvisors of
the County of Butte, State of California, as follows:
That we respectfuily urge that all citizens oppos~ axry addition-
al unnecessary and oppressive gu.n control legislation or gun registration.
PASSED AND ADTOPED by ~he Board of Supervisors of the County
of Butte, State of California, this 6th day of October, 1970, by the
following vote:
AYES: Supervisors McKillop, Maxon, Reynolds and Chairman
Dunaway
NOES: Supervisor Howsden
