County, and was primarily responsible Eor its founding as a political
and social entity;
WHEREAS,mining has produced hundreds of millions of dollars in
revenue and resources to our citizenry, and;
WHEREAS, a I.arge portion of the County is occupied by public
lands containing ~ntold mineral weal.th;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that ~his Board:
1. Respectfully s~bmits to al1 federal agencies that J.egitz-
mate mining operations should be encouraged and not in any way
hindered in their search for the vast natural resources sxtuate in
our County.
2. That we respecttull.y request tha~ all federal agencies
assist citizens to patent a11 those mining claims that under the law
are so entitled, thus adding these properties to our tax ro1~.s and
lessening the burden of governmental cost to other property o~iers.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Butte Cownty Board af Supervisors
this 27th day of October, 1970, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors Maxon, McKill~, Reynolds and Chairman Dur~away.
NOES: None
ABSENT:Supervisor Howsden
