The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, Statue
of California, under and by authority of the provisions of
ArticlE 9, Chapter 1, Part 1, Division 6 of the California GVelfare
and Institutions Code, do ordain as sollows:
SECTION 1. The office of Public Guardian for ]3utte
County, Cali:~ornia, is hereby created _
SECTION 2. a. The ButtE County Counsel is hereby appoin
ed to the said office or Public Guardianz, and sha.1J_ serve e„-
officio as such Guardian.
b. A11 duties of the office of Public Guar-
dian hereby created may also be pe-rfoz~ned by any fsssistan~L- or
Deputy County Counsel of Butte County, Ca7_ifornia, appoii~tcd or
designated o-r the purpose by the Butte County Counsel.
SECTION 3. 'T'he •c.erm of office of the Pub3_ic Guardian
sha_l]_ commence on July 1, 1°61, and shall continue without rE-
appointment until terminated by Ordinance.
SECTION ~-. a. The ??ublic Guardia.r_ shall serve without
sEparatE compensation.
b. I~TECessary expenses of the Public Guardian
may be paid or incurred ley him in any guarcli anship proceeding, and
when so paid or incurred shall become a county charge; but any
such e:r>pEnse sha11 be rEimbursed to the County ou-t of funds of the
guardiaizship to which the same appertain.
c. The Public Guardian shall serve as his
own attorney. He may designate any Deputy or ~;ssistant County
IlCOUnsc-i to pErform the duties of attorney for the Public Guardian.

duties of the County Counsel at large in any guardianship proceed-
ing, or contemplated guardianship proceeding, the Public Guardian
sha13. either decline to act o-r sha11 resign as Public Guardian,
as the case may be, and a disinterested person sha1J. be appointed
to serve as guardian in such proceeding. ~i~his section shall nat
be construed to apply to routine and ordinary claims of the
County for services -rendered to the person under guardianship or
under contemplated guardianship.
SECTIOi~ 6. The junctions, duties, powers and obligation
of the Public Guardian shall be as prescribed in Article 9, Chap-
ter i, Part 1, Division 6 of the Calizornia VJe1fa.re and L~stitutio
Code, except as hereinabove otherwise expressly p:covided.
SECTIOti 7. This ordinance shal? be and it is hereby
declared to be in full force and eLrect from and after thirty
"(30) days alter the date of its passage, and before she expiration
of fifteen (15} days a:Eter its passage this Ordinance sha11 be
pub7_ished once with the names of the members voting for and
against it, in Paradise News Press a newspaper publish-
ed in the County of Butte, State of California.
