HomeMy WebLinkAbout71-003~/r~ WHEREAS, this Board has previously resolved its opposition to continued funding of the California Rura1 Legal Assistance; and WHEREAS, Governor Reagan has recently vetoed such continued funding; and WHEREAS,the actions of the CRLA continue to con- stitute a disservice to the citizen-taxpayer of' the 5tate of California by litigating class actions concerning political questions to the exclv.sion of th.e iegitimate needs of the poor for individu.al legal services; and WHEREAS, the questionable sum appropriated to fund the CRLA could be better used in the exploration of more affective means of providing individualized legal services to the poor citizens of California. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT i~ESOLVED by the Board o~' S~pervisors of th.e County ofi B~tte, State of Cali~ornia that they wholeheartedly support the veto exercised by Governor Reagan. BE 2T RURTHER RESOLVED that the federa~ government expl.ore alternative method.s of utilizing said vetoed funds for the the benefit of the poor in California. BE TT FEIRTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resol~- tion be sent to the Honorable Richard M.
