WHEREAS, this Board was grieved to learn of the death
of WILLTAM EDGAR ROTHE, retired Chico District Court judge; and
WHEREAS, WTLLIAM EDGAR ROTHE served as assistant district
attorney and later was elected district attorney, serving a
total nf eight years in that office; and
WH~REAS, W~LLIAM EDGAR ROTEIE served as judge of the
Chico District Court ~xom 1953 until he retired in 1967; and
WI~EREAS, WILLI.~M ~DGAR ROTHE was active in several
organizations. He had been a Mason for 51 years, a member of
Chico Lodge 111, F& AM.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supe~-
visors of the County o~ Butte, 5tate of California, as follows:
1. That said Board hereby memoralizes its appreciation
of the meritorioas services rendered to the County
of Butte by WILLIAM EDGAR ROTHE during his lifetime.
2. That the condolences and heartfeld sympathy of
this Board be extended to his wife Jean and
that the clerk of this Board forwaxd a certified
copy of this resolution to her.
3. ~'hat the ~egular meetizzg of this I3oard held on
the 2nd day of February, 1971, be adjourned
in memory of WILLIAM ~DGA12 ROTHE.
