and Vegetation Su~vey is presently in progress utilizing the co-
ope~ation o~ the United States Department of Agriculture, Division of
k'orestry and the Ca1i£ornia Division of Forestry; and
WH~R;~AS, said cooperative project covers:=.all pr~.vately owned
range and timber land in Butte-County east of the Sacramento Valley
floor; artd
WHLR~AS, the great major3.ty of the field work for said
Butte County area has been accompl,ished as of this date and is in
jeopardy of not being published if said project is temporarily
abandoned; and '
'WEiF•REAS, this Board was informed on this date that Assembly
Ways ~and Mean.s Subcom-nittee 1Vumber 6 is currently meetin~ -to consider
the continued £inancing of said Cooperative Survey ~hrough the b~dget
of the California T3ivision of Forestry; and
S3H~REAS, the completion and publication of said survey is
of vital concern to this Board as well as to the ~tte Cov.nty Plannin~
CommiSsion, and pthex' county departments which discharge duties in
the fi:eld of land regulation and land appraz.sa.ng in that the proper
utilization and preservation of our eastern watersk~ed area for the
benefit of the ~itizen.s of the County of Butte and of future generations
depends considerably on the availability of the type of information
said survey will pro'v9.de.

SQIL AND VEG~TATION SURVEY IN EASTERN BUTTE COUNTY
NOW,"THEREFOR~ B~ IT RESOLV~D that this Board strongly
supports the continued financing and completion of said Soil and
Vegetation Map Project.
BE IT FU~tTH~R R~SOLVED that the Clerk forward copies of
this resolution to the state and federal agencies and legislators
affected by said budget del~.berations.
