HomeMy WebLinkAbout71-099WH~REAS, this Board has been made aware of the provisions of Assembiy Bill 490; and WHEREAS, it would have an ad~erse effect on agriculture as it dea~s with perishable commodities; and WHEREAS, this bil~ makes it a criminal offense for any employer, including farmers, ~o willingly and knowingly use sub- stitute employees. The employer could not freely hire replacements to do their employees' work if two or more ~ nt on strike, which could result in tremendous economic loss where perishable crops are involved, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: l. That this Board strongly opposes Assembly Bill 490 and respectfully requests that the Legislature defeat this proposed legislation. 2, That a copy of triis Resolution be sent to the Honorable Ronald Reagan, Governor, ~he Honorable Raq Johnson, Assemb~yman, the Honorable Fred Marler, Senator, the Califarnia Farm Bureau Federation Legislative dffice and to such other persons as this Board may direct.
