HomeMy WebLinkAbout71-116No. 71-11~~~: WHEREAS, the Paradise Recreation and Park District is a special district ox~ganized pursuant to the provisions o£ Chapter 4 of Division 5 of ~he Pub7,ic Resources Code, commencing with §5780; and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte is, pursuant to the authority of Pub7.ic Resources Code §5780.1, the supervis- ing authority ot the Paradise Recreatian and Park District; and WHEREAS, the Paradise Recreation and Park District obtained grant Na. 0306 in Octaber, 1970, from the California Council on Criminal Justice, rahich grant was funded pursuant to Tit1e I, Part C, of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 ( Public Law 90-351 ), and which was for a Model Community Plan for Total Youth Involvement, a project to develop an.d implement a program of recreational activities for a selected group of potential problem youth ~xanages tweJ.ve through eighteen, residing within the Paradise Recreation and Park District, for the purpose of juvenile delinquency prevention; and WHEREAS, the said youth recreational program is an on-going pro~ect for whieh th.ere is a continuing need; and WHEREAS, the funding for the said program expires effective September ~, 1971; and WHER~S, the Paradise Recreation and Park District desires to apply for second year funding in order to continue the sai.d pro- gram in effect for another year,,;and WHEREAS, this Board is in sympathy with the objectives of the said program and believes the said prog~am would be of benefit to the youth within the Paradise area and to the ~esidents of the County at large. -7 ~~~~(o RESOLUTION APPROVING AND :ENCOURAGIN~ GRAN3' APPLI- CATION BY PARADISE RECREATION AND PARK DISTRZCT NOW, THEREFORE, BE zT RESOLVED tha~ this Board approves.and encourages the Paradise Recreation and Park~Dis~rict Board of Trustees ~o submit an application for second year funding from the Cali~ornia Council on Criminal Justice to continue the Model Cammunity Plan for Total Youth Involvement, grant No, 0306a BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution shall be sent to the Board of Trustees of the Paradise Rec~eation and Park District and to the California Council on Criminal Justice.
