CJHEER..EAS, ~he County of Butte has traffic signals installed at
various loca~ions in the County; and
WHER.EAS, The County does not have adequate persannel ar equipment
fbr the maintenance of such traffic signals;
NOW, TH~€?.EF'ORE, BE TT RESOZVED tha~ the State of California, Division
of IIighways, be requested to maintain said signal system at an as~ia3a.ted cost
of ~"i,000 for the 'f971-72 fiscal year.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following "Save ~Iarmless" provision
is approved by the Board in connection with such maintenance:
°It is expressly understood and agreed by the County tha~ the
State of California and its officezs and its emp~.ayees snall
not be ans~aerable or accountabJ.e in any manner for injuries
to or ~he death o£ persons or £or any da.mage to property re-
sulting from the operat~.on of or the £ailure to ?uain~ain ~he
traff ic signal s, "
°The County agrees to indemnify and save harmless ~the State of
California and its officers and employees ~rom a~.1 sui~s,
actions or claims of any character brought as a consequence
o~ the operation of or the failure to maintain the traffic
signals."

~,9 not to exceed ~1~000 with the Division of Highways for ~he maintenance o~ said
