].eg~slation in~ended ~o tighten regulations relating to the eontrol
and security o~ explosives, which legislation xequires, in pare, that
permits be obtained for the use of explosives,and
WHEREAS, a permit f ee of $10 is provided for unless ehe quantity
of explosives is one hundred pounds or 1ess, in which case the fee is
$2, and
WHEREAS, although this Board o~' Supervisors recognizes the
value of having some type of control over the use of explosives it
feels that the requirement of a permit fee, which does not cover the
costs of issuing the permit, serves no useful purpose and, in fact,
discrima.nates unjus~l.y against miners and other individuals who
customarily use explasives in the~.x business and who now are requi~ed
to pay this extra feeo
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Butte County Board of
Supervisors wishes to go on record as opposing any and ail fee re~
quirements connected with the issuance of pe~mits for explosiveso
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY the Butte County Board o~ Supervisors
this ~th day of July, 1971, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisars Gilman, Mad9.gan, Maxon, McKillop, and
Chairman Reynvlds
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
NOT VOTING: None
