. RESOLUTION ~10. 7I-I86 .
WiiEREAS, the N9net~eth Congress of the United States pf America
adop~ed legislation known as the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of
1.968, .(PL~9Q-351), praviding F'edera] funds to a17 leve7s of local government
to assfst them in combating the increase in crime and to improve all functions
~ of the criminal justice syster~; and
WHEREAS, the California Council on Criminal Justice has been des-
ignated as the State Planning Agency to receive Federal funds allocated to
the State of California as a block grant; and is responsible for the leader-
ship, administration, and distribqtion of said funds to local governments; and '~
WHEREAS, the California Council on Criminal Justice has divided the
state into twenty one (21) regions in order that all local Teve~s of govern-
ment might effectively participate in comprehens7ve planning to meet the
objectives o~ the Omnibus Crime Contro7 and Safe Streets Act; and
IdHEREAS, the cities and counties of Sutte, Colusa, G7enn and Plumas
are officialiy designated Region C; and
WHEREAS, the Region G Criminal Justice Planning Board wi11 develop
plans for the expendi~ure of funds to ~mprove the criminal justice system in
Region C; subject to approval by this ; and
WHEREAS, to effectively implement such a program, members and staff
of the Regional Criminal Justice Planroing Board (Region C) need the fuTl _
support and assistance of a71 city councils, a71 boards of supervisors, and
other interested government and civic agencies w~thin Region C;
NQW, THEREFORE $E IT RESOLVED thdt the Butte County Board of
3upervisors, hereby officially recognizes the Regiona7 Crimina] Justice Planning
Board (Reg~on C) as the official planning agency in all matters pertaining
~o ~he improvement of the criminal justice system under the auspices o~
PL 90-351 as interpreted and administered by the Californfa Council on
Crimina7 Justice. .
