HomeMy WebLinkAbout71-264W#iEREAS, this Board opposes the concept of forced busing of
schoo~ children to achieve some prewdesignated ratio of students by race,
WHEREAS, although this Board does strongly oppose any type of
segregation whatsoever, to force transportation of students from their
neighborhood schools does not help the education system, neither from
the quality of education the students receive nor trom the cost of this
~busing,
WHEREAS, xn that there is presently insufficient funding for
most of our schools, the cost o~ £orced busing to achieve some particular
ratio of integration can result only in some cutback in the educational

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
That this Board strongly opposes the busing of students
away from schools that they would otherwise have attended in order to
achieve some pre-set ratio of races in each school, and although this
Board also strongly opposes any form of segregation whatsoever, we do
not bel.ieve that costly buszng of students to achieve a set ratio is
in either the student's or the public's best interest.
