concerned with tl~e increasing problems and challer~ges facing the
senior citizen in aZ1 phases of community life and desires ~eo
establish a better means of communication with senior cita.zens in
order to better understand the problems of aging and the aged, and
WHEREAS, this Board deems it desirable to forjn a Commission
on. Senior Affairs, composed o£ pe~sons appointed by this Board,
as a means of ~inding solutions to ~hhe community and county
problems which may affect the senior citizen and the balance of
the commuriityo
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESQLVED pursuant to the authori~y
granted by Government Code Section 31000.1,
I. The Butte County Commission on Seniar Affairs is hereby
established, to be composed of ten members from the public, two
fxom each supervisorial d~strict, each to be in the senior citizen
status (50 years or over} and reta.red fx~om fv.ll employment, and
five members from departments of coun~y govern€nent most invol.ved
in the problems of aging and the aged,
2, The members shal~ be appointed by the Board of Supervisors.
3, The chairman and all other officers of ~he Commission
shal~ be chosen by election among the members of the Commission.
4. Each appointment shall be for a period of two years;
however, with creation of the Commissivn, fa.ve members (one from
each Supervisorial district) would be appointed for a one year term,
thus allowing for rotation of inembership, Public members of the
Co~nmission sha11 be entitled reimbursement for actual and necessary
travel expense in attending meetings of the Commission in accordance
with County regulations.

COMMISSION ON SENIOR AF~AIRS
5, The Gommission sha1l act in an advisory capacity to the
Board of Supervisors in the general area of the problems faced
by fihe aging and the aged, shall conduct public hearings, shall
gat~er information and shall perform s~ch other functions cons~ent
with the aforesaid purpases as this Board of Supervisors may from
time to time direct.
6o Tfze Commission shall formulate and transmit in writing
to the Board of Supervisors suggested programs and solutions
related to t~e problems of aging and the aged,
