HomeMy WebLinkAbout72-185WHEREAS this Board has been made aware of the prablems emana~ing from the recent decision of the California Supreme Court in Friends of Mammoth v. Board af Supervisors of Mono County which interpreted the California Environmental Quality Act of 1970, and WHEREAS although Butte County has a conservation element in its General P1.an, the proble~ns of administering said Act since its interpretation by the Sap~eme Court are ditticult if not impossible, and WHEREAS the protection of the environment is of major importance to a11 public agencies. NOW, T`HEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by this Board: 1. That the~:Legis~ature o~ this S~ate i.s respectfu].ly requested to review the Environmental Quality Act o£ 1970 and to amend said Act so as to make the legislative direction clear with speciaZ emphasis on procedures as they affect local agencies. 2. That the Governor of this State is respectfully ~equested to give consideration towards calling a special session of the Legisl.ature to seek clarification of the Environmental Quality Act of 14700 3o That copies of this resolutiort be forwarded to the Honorable Ronald Reagan, Governor, the Honorable Fred Marler, Senator and the Honorable Ray Johnson, Assemblyman, PASSED AND ADOP~'ED by the Butte County Board o~ Supervisors this lOth day af October, 1972, by the following vo~e: AYES: Supervisorz~ Douthit, Ladd~ Madi.gan~ Maxon & Chairman Gil~nan.
