HomeMy WebLinkAbout72-194WHER~AS, ~his Board has reviewed the provisions of Proposition 20 which wi1~ appear on the bal~ot on ~he November 7, 1972, General Election, known as the Coastal Zo~e Conservation.Act Initiative, and WI-iEREAS, if Proposition 20 is passed by the electorate o~ this State, a loss of approximately $25,750,000 in ~a~ revenues in the affected area along with the loss of millions of dollars and thousands of jobs in needed develapment projects;will occur, and WHEREAS, this Proposition is an undesirable atte~npt to eliminate local control and local voice in local affairs, and WHEREAS, this Proposition, if passed, wil~ create a threat of increased power shortages and possible brown outs because of delays of construction of new power.generating plants. NOW, THEREFORE, B~ IT RESOLVED by this Board: That this Board strongly opposes the provisions of Proposition 20 and respectfully submits to the electorate of this County and of this State that this Proposition be defeated.
