the policy oi' sa~d Hoard concerning travEl upon county~ business btf county.
officers and employees shall be governed by the fallowing sv_].es and xegulations:
1. Authori~:y for travel. Depari;ment heads may travel on their o~,m
authori-Ey laithin tlie County crY~enever it is necessary to transact coun~y business
and they may authorize any employee to perform such travel. Oi1 travel outside
the Caun~y tirhere no overnight lodging is required, department heads may travel
on their own authority or authorize travel by an employEe. '
Ldhere travel involves overnight lodg~ng a department'head shall send

a travel request £orm to the Administra~ive Office for approval. When a trin
as been conpleted the department head shall submit a report of ~he meeting to
the Administrative Officer exp].aining what took place at the meetin~ t•rhich i•rill
enei'it the county. Upon recea.pt of the travel report, -the Administrative
Of£icer sha11 send a copy of the approved travel request foi3n to the Andi-~or-
Controller as authorization for payment of travel e~enses. '
2. Method of travel. County cars shal~. be used trhenever passiYile
nd to th~ extent available-for travel w~.th?n the County. Each person who uses
privately oti~med vehicle on county business shall fzle an affidavit certifying
hat there is insurance in efiect in the sum o~ not J.ess than ~IO,OQO for'

13 at the rate of twelve cents per mile ~or the first 500 miles driven eacla month
