BUTTE COUNTX ORDINANCE NO. 728
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS ON
CERTAIN ROADS. W.LTHIN THE COUNTY OF BUTTE,
STATE OE CALIFORNIA. (Vehicle Code Section
22358 .
The Board of Supervisors of the County of Butte, State
of California, do ordain as follows:
Section l: Said Board finds and determines that upon
the basis of an engineering and traffic survey, the county
highways hereinafter described come within the provisions of
Section 22358 of the Vehicle Code of the State of California,
in that a prima facie speed limit of sixty-five (65) miles per
hour is more than is reasonable and safe on said highways,
and determines and declares a prima facie speed limit on such
county highways as follows:
Section 2: That a prima facie speed limit of fifty-
five (55) miles per hour is hereby determined, declared and
established upon the hereinafter described county highway, to wit:
(a) On GARNER LANE, from State Highway Route 3
to Keefer Road.
Section 3: That SPEED LIMIT 55 MILES signs be placed
at appropriate locations an the road described in Section 2.
Section ~#: That a prima facie speed limit of fifty
(50) miles per hour is hereby determined, declared and established
upon the hereinafter described county highway, to wit:
(a) On EATON ROAD, from State ~Ti:ghway Route 3
to Cohasset Highway,
Section 5: That SPEED LIMIT 50 MILS signs be placed
at appropriate locations on the road described in Section 4.
Section 6e That a prima facie speed limit of forty--
five (45) miles per hour is hereby determined, declared and
established upon the hereinafter described county highway, to wit:
(a) On HICKS LANE, from State Highway Route 3 to

Section 7: That SPEED LIMIT 45 MILES signs be placed
at appropriate locations an the road described in Section 6.
Section 8: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed..
Section 9: The several features, parts, provisions,
sections and terms of this ordinance are hereby declared independ-
ent and severable, and the invalidity, if any, of any feature,
part, provision, section, or termi~ereof shall not affect the
remainder of this ordinance, nor render the same inoperative or
invalid.
Section 10: The Department of Public Works of the
County of Butte is hereby directed to erect appropriate signs
giving notice of the prima facie speed limits established herein,
within thirty (30)-days of the adoption hereof.
This ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days
after its passage, and before the expiration of fifteen (15)
days after its passage, it shall be published with the names of
the members voting for and against the same, once in a local
newspaper published in the County of Butte, State of California.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the Board of Supervisors of
the County of Butte, State of California, at the regular meeting
thereof on the 20th day of November, 1961, by the following vote:
AYES: Supervisors .Alldredge, Pittman, Pxyde, Steinegger and
Ohairman Giles
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
NOT VOTING: None
