COIVSOLIDATING .~AID ~FF~TAL ~COUNTY TAX OVE1~tIllE ELEC~'IOI~ WITH THE ~PECIAL COUNTY ELFCTION TO SE HELD July 17, 1973 'S~3HEREA~, in the judgment of the Board of ~u.pervisoxs (~he "Board") of Butte County ("Covnty") it is necessary that the funds of ~he County sha11 be expended for the pv.rposes herein- atter set forth; and ~7IIEREAS, there are not sufficient funds in the treasury o£ the Coun~y available for said purposes, or any of them, or 9.n the amount reqtiired therefor, and it is necessary that funds in addition to fihose on hand in the treasury of the County be raised by increasing the property tax rate within But~e County and to that end that a special coun.ty tax override election be held in accordance with the 1aw for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of the ~ounty the proposition of whethe-r or not this Board may authorize a tax in excess of the base years 1970-71 and 1971-72 for the purposes hereinafter set forth, so that the proposition of the tax override may be submitted to the qualified electors o£ the County at said election as herein provided, NOZ~, THEREFORE, BE IT RE`SOLVED AND ORDERED by the Board of ~upervisors of Butte ~ounty as follows: ~ection l, A special ~ourzty tax override electio.n be and th.e sama is hereby called to be he].d throughout Bu~te ~oun~y on ,Iuly 17, 1973 , for the purpose of submitting to the q~aJ.ifa.ed elecCors of the County the proposition of raising the property tax rate of the County for the purposes and in the amount ~ ~.. set forth in the ~oiioW~~g measure, to wit: COUNTY TAX OVERRIDE MEA'SURE Sha11 the Board of Supervisors of the County TAX OVERRIDE of Butte be authorized to levy a tax in excess Yes of the base years 1970-71 and 1971-72 in the amount of $ 30 per $100 of assessed ~ TAX OVERRID~ e~y-~or tfe purpose of maintaining valuation so ~o the County Aospiral for an indefinite period of time? Section 20 (a) 'The Board does hereby submit to the qualified e7.ectors of the County at the special County tax ov'erride election said County measure for the increase of the maximum kax ratie, an.d hereby designates and refers to said measure zn the ~orm herein- above set forth as a measure to be set forth on the ballots here~ inafter::prescribed for use at the special County tax override electiono (b) The special County ~eax override election sha11 be held an.d con.duc~ed, and the votes thereat received and canvassed, and the r eturns thereof made and the result thereof ascertained and determined as herein provided, and in a11 particulars not prescribed by this resolution and order said .eLection shall be held as nearly as practicable in conformity with the election laws of the State of California and only qualified voters of the Covnty may vote thereata (c) The special County' tax override election hereby called shall be and is ~ereby conso].ida~red with the special election called by the Board of ~uperv9.sors of the County of Bu~te by Ordinance Noo 1347 to be held throughout the county on Julv 17. 1973 all as required by and pursuant to law; and the e~ection precincts, polling places and voting booths shall be in every case be the same and there shall be only one set of election officers at each of such precinctso The election precinets, polling places and offi~ers of election for the speczal County tax over~ide eJ.ectfon shal]. be the same as those deszgna~ed for 20 said special election in the notice of polling places and election officers for sa3d special election to be published by the County Clerk pursuant to 1aw to which notice reference is hereby specifically made for a designation of the precinets, polling places and election officers for the spec~al County tax override electiono The polls for said special eiection and for the special county tax override election hereby consolidated therewith shall be opened at 7:00 a,ma on the date o~ said electians and shall be kept open until 8:00 pomo of said day, w~ien the po11s shall be closed, except as provided in Elections Code ~ection 144360 (d) On~y one form of ballot shall be used at said special election and the special County tax override election hereby consolidated therewith, which in addition to all other matters required by law to be pr~nted thereon, sha11 state the measure set forth in Section 1 hereof. That to vote in ~avor of the measure hereby submitted and to increase the maxxmum tax rate as set forth in said measure, each voter shall stamp a cro°ss (x) in the voting square a~'ter the words "T.AX OVERRIDE - YE~`~on the ballot to the right of said measureo .And ~o vote against the measure hereby' submitted and again.st the increase in the maximum tax rate as set forth in said measure, each uoter sha11 stamp a cross (x} in the voting square=: after the words "TAX OVERRIDE ~ NO" on the ballot to the riglit of said measureo On absent vater ballots the cross (x) may be marked with pen or pencil, (e) The County Clerk of the ~ounty sha17. supply ballots and stationery and all other things necessary for the conduct of said elections to the proper officers of electiono (f) The returns o~ said election shall be made out and signed by the election officers and sha11 be by them deposited with the County C1erk, together with. the ballots cast at said elections, and the said returns shall be canvassed vr caused to be canvassed by the Board which sha11 declare the results of said elections a~ the time and in the man.ner provided by la~w, 30 '~ection 3, The amount o~ the increase in the Butte County property tax rate proposed to be made by tk~e Board of Supervisors, in the event that said county tax override measure shall carry at said elec~.ion is $,.30 per $100 of assessed valuation. This increased tax rate shall ra~a~:.n in effect for an indefinite period of time. If at this special Coun~y tax override election, a majority of the electors of the County ~croting on said County tax over'ride measure vote in favor of it~ then a tax at a rate .not exceeding the rate sgecitied in said measure may be leviec3 for the purposes set forth in the measureo Section 4o Notice of a specia].
