RE50LUTION OF C~RTIFICATION REGARDING CHARTER AMENDMENT
Wf~REAS, proceedings have been taken and had ~or the
propos.al. arzd ratification of an amendment to the Charter of the Counry
of Butte, State crf California, as hereinafter set ~orth i.n the
certif3cation of the Chairman and Clerlc of the Board o~ 5upervisors
o~ the Cou.nty of Butte, as foliows:
WHERE2.S, the County of Bu~~.e9 Sta~e of ~ali~arnia, has at
al1 •times me.ntio~ed herein. been and now is a body politic of the
State of Califor~ia, and is now and has been, since the twenty-seven~eh
` day of` January, ~917, organized and acting nnder and by v~irtue of a
charte~ a dopted under and by vir~.ue of ,Ar~icle XI of the Co.~stitution
of the State af California, whi.ch charter was du~y ~atified by the
qu.alified electors of said county at an election held ~or that
: purpose on the sevenrh day of November, 1916, and.approved by the
Legislatuxe of the 5tate of California, on the twenty-seventh day of
January, 1917 (Statutes I917, page 1.791 et seq.} ; and
WHEREA~, on May 8, ~973, the Board of Supervisors of the
County of Butte passed Ordinance Number 1347 calling for a special
election held o,n J'uI.y 17, 1973~ in which charter amendments arid
other County measures were proposedo
WHERF.AS, said Ordinance and charter amendments were duly
publish~d in the C:~ico Enterprise 3tecord, and the Qroville Mercury,
newspapers of gen~i-al circula~ion in ~he Cotinty of Bu~te a tota7. af
5 times a•n S separ.at~ days, to wit~ May 14, l~, 16,'17, 18, 1973
. and said proposed ch~~rter a~nendments were also duly published in
toto zn the Chico Em~:erl~rise Recoxd and Yhe pro~vi~le Meree~ry,
r_~wspapers uf generaT ~ixculation in the-County of Butte a tota~. of
5 times an ~~ aeparate da~y;s, to wit~' May 79, 21~ 22, ` 23, 24, 1973, and
~ vnd~~ in.a.~ ~v Loc~n:~~ C'~aa~rse./ :.~`,v~g!'~e 1~. /ery,`~/~~^e.
WHEREr~S, said special election was held in.said County
on July 17~ 19i3y which day was more than 40 days and less than 60
days from the completion of the publicatian of the proposed charter
am~ndments9 and
WH~REAS, the registrar of voters did in the maxiz~er provided
by law duly and regularly canvass the returns of said election, and
on the 30th day of July~ I973' duly ce~tify to the Board ot Super-
visors the results of said special e~ection as determined from the
cam~ass of the returns thereonp and
WHER~AS, a.t said special election so held on July 17,
1973 an amendment to the Butte County Charter was approved by the
ma~ority o~ the eleetoxs of sai.d County voting thereon, and
WHEREAS, the charter amendment so ra~ified by ~he
electors of the County of Butte is now submitted to the Legis.lature
of ~he Sta~e of Ca7.ifaxni~a for approval as a whol.e witl~.out change
by resolution of said Legislature in accordat~ce with the provi.sions
of Article XT of ~he Constitution of the State of California and
are in words and figures as fol].ows:

proposed and rati~ied amendment to the Chaxter of ~ehe Cou.nty of
Butte with the original groposal which was sul~mutted to the elec~eors
